Re-Paving Hawaii's Roads...

Grace Pacific Corp., which was founded in 1921, is responsible for most of the major paving projects on the islands of Oahu, Hawaii, Maui and Molokai. This corporation takes care of the all the road paving projects and they are also a large producer of basalt and limestone aggregates., for they have natural stone quarries at Barbers Point and Makakilo.

Here is a list of some of the major paving projects that have been carried out on the island if Hawaii by Grace Pacific Corp.:

• City street rehabilitation worth $6.8 million
• Re-surfacing Honolulu airport runway, worth $1.4 million
• Re-surfacing various major highways such as Hana, Likelike and Nimitz highways, ranging in cost from $1.2 million to $5.7 million.

The Hawaii Asphalt Paving Association has just appointed a new Executive Manager, Lisa G. Economy. Lisa has been in the asphalt paving industry for many years and is following in the footsteps of her father, who has made leaps and bounds in the industry.

The main aim of the Hawaii Asphalt Paving Association is to provide the asphalt paving builders and maintenance workers in Hawaii with the constant knowledge and education that they need, so that asphalt will continue to be the most durable and economical material for paving the highways and streets of Hawaii.

It is also a high priority for the HAPI to encourage the correct design and construction practices of those in the asphalt paving industry by enabling those people to access all the resources and current information they may need. This will ensure that Hawaii’s roads, highways and streets will be paved using the latest techniques and the best paving materials.

Hawaii is a very popular state in tourism by travelers from all over the world. The warm climate and warm waters all year round is the perfect destination by tourist especially for those who live in colder countries. It is has beautiful beaches and the highest waves for surfers to compete in surfing competition from across the globe.

Volcanoes are also another attraction to tourist’s world wide. All the islands in Hawaii were formed from volcanic eruptions from the sea bed in the Pacific Ocean. At present there are still volcanoes that are active in the southern side of the Islands of Hawaii.
