Re-Paving Pennsylvania's Highways ...
| Hi-Way Paving was responsible for all the concrete paving on two major projects carried out in Pennsylvania. The two paving projects were on the 181and 83 Interchanges in the town of Harrisburg and also on Route 30 near Lancaster, where five miles of the four-lane Interstate was reconstructed. hi-Way Paving rely on the help of the latest paving technology and the use of the latest paving equipment, these make their jobs |
|
that much easier to complete and the results are outstanding.
The reconstruction of Route 30 involved Hi-Way Paving doing all of the concrete work on the project as well as all of the phase work, constructing new interchanges and ramps. Hi-Way Paving has the help of very high quality paving equipment, such as the Commander III, which helped them complete the work on both of the Pennsylvania paving projects.

The project in Harrisburg was a four-year long job that had many challenges. This involved the paving of about nine miles of a six lane highway. One of the difficult things about this project was that it required three different paving widths. Depending on whether the part of the road that you are paving is a shoulder or a single lane, there are specific widths. This is simplified by having the presence of two pavers, where each of them is |
set to a different width with an occasional alteration if needed.
Hi-Way Paving had to deal with some very tight requirements that are set by The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. The Department requires that a keyway be slipformed into the side of the slab when another lane is added. Certain clearances were made easy for Hi-Way Paving for they had the help of their Commander III, which saves the workers time by being able to slipform the shoulder with lane.
 |
These two paving projects were major, but they were made so much easier and faster with the assistance of the Commander III. It is a fast machine and is so versatile for the job requires a lot of movement all day. The Commander III has easy set-up with very smart cylinders, fast traveling speed and is so easily transported from place to place. |
