What Are Travertine Pavers?

Travertine is a natural stone; it is a sedimentary stone. Travertine is a solid form of calcium carbonate, produced in hot mineral springs. These hot springs contain lime substance, making Travertine a type of Limestone.
It is a beautiful stone quarried in Turkey’s mountainous regions. There are also said to be large quantities of travertine in Tivoli, Italy. |

Historical Uses
Travertine has been used in the construction of buildings since the Roman era. However, there is also said to be Travertine used in the construction of The Pyramids in Egypt.
The Colosseum is one of the largest buildings in the world, and it is mostly constructed with Travertine. This was made possible due to the large deposits of Travertine that were quarried from Tivoli.
The Getty Center in Los Angeles, California, is also constructed with the use of Travertine, which was imported from Tivoli, especially for the project.
Travertine Pavers Types of Finishes
There are three main types of finishes applied to Travertine Pavers.
Honed/Chiseled Edge
Hones/chiseled edge Travertine pavers are suitable for outdoor applications and landscaping projects. It is available in varying thicknesses and a range of multi-size sets. The colors available in this finish are; ivory, grey, charcoal, yellow, pink and noce.
Tumbled Travertine Pavers
Tumbled Travertine Pavers are ideal for outdoor applications, including landscaping. This type of finish is available in multi-size sets and a variety of thicknesses, dimensions suitable for most applications. The colors available in this finish are; reds, ivory, golden, grey, charcoal, pink and noce.
Antique (cushion/pillow edged) Travertine Pavers
This type of finish imitates that of Ancient Roman flooring, where different sizes were used together and aged over time through excessive use. The Travertine Pavers are individually hand crafted to achieve a worn ancient look. Antique finished Travertine Pavers are made to replicate an antique, aged flooring stone. The colors available are cream, ivory, beige, noce, grey, red and yellow.
