PAVER CLEANERS AND SEALERS OVERVIEW

It is human nature to protect one’s property, belongings, or valuables. For many, every dollar spent on something should be fully enjoyed and benefited from. And a great example is how property owners ensure that their paved surfaces will remain looking immaculately clean and presentable for decades. Over time, stains like efflorescence – the white, chalk-like residue caused by salts deposited on the paver surface – tend to wipe out the clean image of the pavers and completely ruin their appeal. Other persistent stains include oil, grime, dust, moss, algae, rust, and grease. When these stains already make your paved surfaces look very unpleasant, it’s time to use paver cleaners and sealers.

By using the right cleaning solutions and then completing the task by applying sealers, it is possible to ‘revitalize’ paved surfaces and make them look new. Paver sealers specifically guarantee that the rich and vibrant colors of your pavers will be preserved longer. The sealers will also protect the pavers from further stains due to constant exposure to salts, oil, grime, grease, and other elements. Also, cleaning unwanted stains becomes much easier if the entire paved surface is properly coated with a sealing agent. Be they film formers or penetrants, sealers will be vital for ensuring that you can enjoy great-looking paved areas longer than normal.

Paver cleaners, on the other hand, ensure that nasty and stubborn stains will be easily washed away with jet spray. There are lots of great products in the market specifically for use in cleaning paved surfaces. You can just buy one off the shelf, or ask your paver contractor for a recommendation.

PAVER CLEANERS AND SEALERS APPLICATION

Paver cleaners are extensively used by property owners to keep their paved areas constantly looking presentable and clean. There are specific cleaning solutions for specific paver types, so it’s best to consult with the cleaner’s label to see if it can be used on the paver type that you have.

Prior to application, it is advised that grass or weed be removed first from the paver joints. You should also sample a very small area so you can observe the reaction of the paver to the cleaner. If the paver is suddenly discolored, then immediately discontinue application. If it doesn’t, you can then water down the entire area and thoroughly sweep it clean. Afterwards, you can now apply the right cleaning solution over the paved surface, using a roller, brush, or broom. Efflorescence, grease, rust, oil and other kinds of stains will be easily removed from the paved surface when the cleaning solution is properly applied.

Once you have completely applied the cleaners and then washed the entire area anew, you should now proceed to applying the paver sealers. Just make sure to have the entire surface completely dried before application. Put the first coat carefully, using rollers or brushes; leave it to dry. You should then apply a second coat, and then let it dry anew. This final drying process normally takes 24 to 48 hours, after which you can fully use the entire area.
